Thanks Dave. Yes, I hear similar things from folks living in Thailand. There seems to be some point when the little things become the big things. For a lot of those folks, it makes sense to go “home” and look for happiness there. I haven’t reached that point yet.

Very interesting post. I think there are many long- term expats here in Japan who are unhappy too. The reasons change from what you lay out but the unhappy expat is the same.
